A leak in the house can be an annoying source of noise when you’re trying to get some sleep. But did you know that it can cause serious property damage in time? Not to mention a significant increase on your water bill.
Hidden leaks can seep into the walls or flooring and cause health issues because of mold and mildew growth. Traditional leak detection methods meant tearing up parts of your house to find the problem pipe. Pipe Surgeons is different because we do not go the “search and destroy” route.
Hydrostatic leak detection is one of the best ways to find out if there’s a pesky leak in your pipes. It can be used to determine a leak located inside the sewer line system or deep beneath your home structure. All it takes is some specialized equipment that’ll lead to the source and our knowledgeable technicians to perform the task.
How Does a Hydrostatic Leak Detection Work?
Our professional technicians can carry out hydrostatic pressure testing in your home. First, the main water supply valve is turned off. Then, A test ball is installed inside main sewer cleanout and inflated to block the line. Water is then introduced, filling up your pipes to slab level. The pressure in hydrostatic pressure testing is typically more than the operating pressure for added result reliability and safety. Our technicians typically implement 150 percent of the working pressure to get the best results.
Water levels drop whenever there’s a leak in your plumbing system. The device gauges if the pressure is maintained all throughout the operation. If there’s any loss of pressure, then there’s a leak. We then investigate: all fixtures and branch lines are tested to pinpoint the source of the leak. Pipe Surgeons won’t need to dig up your yard in an attempt to find the problem pipe!
Our leak detection is suitable for the following:
- All Materials. Whether PVC, CPVC, galvanized, black iron, copper, etc.
- All Pipelines. Fire mains, drain lines, water lines, hot or cold water lines, cooling tower lines and chilled water lines.
- All Systems. Residential, commercial and industrial water lines can be serviced via hydrostatic leak detection.
Our qualified technicians can locate the source of the leak quickly and efficiently. A one-two combination of video camera inspection and leak isolation test will expose the weakness in your plumbing system, if there is any. Our advanced fiber optic cameras can also see if there are any obstructions or roots clumped in your pipes or if there are any issues with low spots or “bellies” in the line that could be holding water.
